Reghu's background
Reghu spent six years at the Arts Institute in Kerala, studying Kathakali, and four years studying Kuchipuddi - a classical dance-form from Andra Pradesh. Reghu Nadhan

Now forty years old, Reghu has the experience of ten years of performance at the Kathakali Centre in Cochi playing villains, heroes, gods and demons, and a variety of female roles.

Reghu teaches Kathakali and classical Indian dance to adults and children, and plays major roles in all–night temple performances of Kathakali plays. He has also choreographed a dance performance using a synthesis of Kathakali and contemporary dance, poetry and storytelling, with English story-teller Wendy Lalla Wharam...

Reghu has devised a way of working with the hearing-impaired using a combination of sign language and Kathakali mudras, and is particularly interested in doing workshops with the hearing-impaired and young people and adults with learning difficulties.

Reghu speaks reasonably fluent English and communicates well with people of all ages. He is an excellent teacher, sharing with his students his own passion for dance, and the traditions of his culture.

Reghu’s whole philosophy of life is deeply informed by Hindu tradition and culture and by the landscape of forests and rivers, the red earth of his beloved village in Kerala. His passion for dance is central to Reghu’s life.

In Reghu's own words - 'If I do not dance, I am not me.'
